Singapore is a Peppol country

Singapore was an early Asia-Pacific adopter of Peppol. Its national programme, InvoiceNow, is built directly on the framework:

• IMDA — the Infocomm Media Development Authority — is Singapore's Peppol Authority.
• Invoices are exchanged as Peppol documents through access points over the four-corner network.
• IMDA accredits access-point and solution providers and sets the technical bar to connect.

So "InvoiceNow" is essentially how Singapore operates Peppol nationally — a branded, governed network on top of the international standard.

The IRAS GST rollout

The significant recent development is the extension of InvoiceNow to tax reporting. Under the IRAS rollout, GST-registered businesses are being brought onto InvoiceNow in phases, with invoice data transmitted to IRAS in addition to the normal buyer↔supplier exchange:

• The rollout began with newly incorporated companies registering for GST voluntarily.
• It then extends to new voluntary GST registrants and further cohorts over time.
• Dates are phased and periodically updated — confirm your specific start date against current IRAS guidance.

This adds a reporting leg to the tax authority on top of the direct exchange — conceptually a continuous-transaction-control layer, comparable in spirit to models emerging in Oman and elsewhere, though Singapore keeps the Peppol network at its core.

InvoiceNow vs Peppol BIS

Two terms that get conflated:

• InvoiceNow — the Singapore programme and network (including the IRAS GST layer).
• Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 / PINT — the invoice content standard it uses.
